Day 7 Bad Iburg

A long journey today after Sian and Paul cooked us bacon rolls.  About 5 1/2 hrs including a stop for lunch. The speed on the autobahns is mad. Lovely site in the middle of nowhere.

Drove into the town - a bit hilly for me to cycle. Very pretty.

Day 6 Groede

A nice bike ride on the top of the dunes to Breskens. 15km round trip.  

Coffee and a walk round the small town and port and back for a leisurely afternoon. Sian and Paul went to the beach and in the sea! Freezing!

Mart went for a bike ride and I read my book.

Bbq at the van in the evening and time for a walk.

Day 5 Groede

A bad start to the day- I've got a puncture! As it's overcast today we're going off in the car to Oostberg and Sluis. 

Had lunch in a great seafood restaurant.

Now time for bike repairs!!

An evening short bike ride to the top of the dunes to see the sea. A bit windy though!!

Day 4 Groede

A nice leisurely start to the day followed by a cycle to the ferry where we took our bikes across to Vlissingen. Cycled around the town - which was closed as it's Whitsun- and up the coast a bit. 23km!! 

Had a great walk around the site in the evening.

Day 3 Groede

Met up with Sian and Paul. Had a good run to the tunnel and despite lots of warnings about it being busy they were really well organised and we stayed together all the way. After lunch and setting up on site we headed off for Groede with a round trip past a windmill.
 

 Ending up at a beach restaurant to eat in the evening.

Day 2 Paddock Wood

A nice morning but with rain showers coming in we decided to head for Rochester where Martin lived when working at the Isle of Grain.

 

 It was nice to see the castle and cathedral where I spent a lot of time!!

In the afternoon we cycled into Paddock Wood - a round trip of only 7km! And we went to see our 2nd home (1976-7).

Today we head off to Paddock Wood, Kent, and then on to the Tunnel on Sunday.
